Good morning
Myself and 4 friends are coming to join the TriDash triathlon event at BangPoo Golf Course, south of Bangkok, next month and are looking to hire road bikes. Last time I joined I hired from Velo near Khaosan Road, but they only had 2 road bikes for hire. Now there are 5 of us we need to find 5 road bikes to hire for 24 hours, ideally which can be delivered/collected from the place we will stay close to the Bangpoo Golf Course. Our heights are 169/170/172/176/177cm to give you an idea of the bike sizes we will need.
Can you recommend any places that we could hire road bikes from for 24 hours to join the triathlon, as we are all flying into Thailand from Cambodia.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.
Warm regards
David
Our response to David
David,
Thank you for your inquiry.
The TriDash events are co-sponsored by Bike Zone and SpiceRoads, and both of these companies are a great first point of contact to find suitable road bike rentals in and around Bangkok.
Respectfully,
John Graham

Hi there,
I am going on a trip to Koh Lanta on 12 until 14 March 2017.
I am trying to find a place to rent a MTB there.
If you are able to suggest, truly appreciate it.

Thank you for your inquiry.
There may be bike rental opportunities at some of the hotels/guesthouses located on Koh Lanta although you should not expect the quality of bike to be very high.
Most visitors cycle the western Koh Lanta road (4245) from north to south or south to north. The eastern roads are quite hilly.
There is one bicycle shop on Koh Lanta, on the northern end, but we are not aware of the name of the bike shop or if they rent bicycles.

To Bicycle Thailand,
Please explain to me as to why we cannot bike in the new Park just behind Banjakiti Park.
We cannot drive there too even though they have a huge Parking space and we cannot bike there…..and it’s open from 6am to 6pm only…..what a pity.
Thank You
Leelu S. Sachdev
Our response to Leelu
Leelu Sachdev,
Thank you for your inquiry.
We were not made aware of any change of policy regarding bicycles being banned from parks in Bangkok. Although we are not completely sure of which park you are referring to when you say ‘the new park just behind Benjakitti park’ – perhaps you are describing the large park-like area owned by the tobacco company? If that is the case, then yes, that area is actually privately owned and not open to the public even though many people transit through the tobacco monopoly property to get to and from certain places.
We agree with your sentiment that more areas should be open to cyclists – and Bangkok does not currently boast the best options for many outdoor sport enthusiasts (running, cycling, jogging, fitness, etc.,).
In an effort to help you find more cycling opportunities in and around the Bangkok area I have compiled the following list of articles we have published that highlight biking parks, areas, and routes:
Improved Bicycle Paths in Samut Prakan’s Phra Pradaeng District
Bicycle lane from Ngam Wong Wan road to Samakkhi road under one of Bangkok’s main highways
Keep on riding ;-)

Our follow up response to Leelu
Leelu Sachdev,
We responded to your inquiry about a new park in Bangkok located behind Benjakiti Park. We would like add the following link to the response we gave to you on January 26, 2017.
The linked article has a few more details about the new park and its ‘unofficial’ opening.
Respectfully,
Tim Shady
