Many beautiful and rewarding bicycle tours along Thailand’s southern coasts are made possible by the vast number of accommodation choices. Being a touring cyclist myself I know how much time and deliberation is spent deciding on a night’s stay. A majority of touring cyclists prefer to make their decision based solely on price, saving their coins in order to splurge on a well-deserved dinner feast.
While price is a factor in my decision, I do tend to favor accommodations that meet some of my more nit-picking requirements. For example, I like to stay in a place that allows for my bicycle to be securely stored out of the weather. Whether this be inside the room, or on a covered balcony, I always ask BEFORE checking in to any hotel just where they will allow me to store my bicycle. After all, my bicycle IS my mode of transportation and without it I would be stranded and heartbroken. So, bike security is high on my list of requirements when choosing where I will stay. I also like to have the ability to walk (or cycle) a very short distance to reach local restaurants, a mini-mart and if possible, an ATM. I have been recommended to go to many beautiful guesthouses that met my price range yet ended up greatly disappointing me when it came time to start searching out my evening meal.
Siripong Guesthouse on Ban Krut beach, in the Prachuap Khiri Khan province of Thailand is worth a visit if your cycling trip takes you through this quiet beachfront town. Low price, beachfront location, secure bicycle parking, and walking distance to great local restaurants, mini-marts (local style and 7-11 chain store with ATM), and the Ban Krut travel agency make this small family-run guesthouse worth knowing about.

If you have difficulty locating staff at the check-in window at Siripong Guesthouse, simply walk across the small beachfront road to the roadside shop and inquire within. The same family that runs this small roadside shop also owns the guesthouse.
Bicycle parking: safe, secure, and out of the weather.
The Siripong Guesthouse owners and staff are not opposed to you safely storing your bicycle inside your room, but in the main building climbing up and down the stairs is a bit of a chore. If you’d rather not haul your bicycle up the stairs they do provide a nice out of the weather and out of the way location underneath the stairs where you can securely lock your bicycle. They even provide a bicycle chain lock if you do not happen to be carrying one of your own.
Siripong Guesthouse is located on Ban Krut beach in the Bang Saphan district of Prachuap Khiri Khan province. Ban Krut is an easy day’s ride from either the provincial capital city of Prachuap Khiri Khan province (if your bicycle ride has you heading south along the Thai coast) or from the provincial capital city of Chumphon (if your bicycle tour has you riding north along the Thai coast).
