In all honesty we were going to pick Tour de Farm as our Top Pick Event, but since the road race portion of the event filled up so quickly and you have no chance of participating unless you signed up (seemingly before official registration opened?), we decided to go with our second choice, the 5th Bangkok Criterium. First run in 2011, the Bangkok Criterium has used a couple of different venues. The 2014 edition will forgo the ‘out of the way’ Bangkae Km 11 Motorway in favor of the spacious and easy to reach long-term parking area at Suvarnabhumi Airport. View this and other great cycling events in Thailand on our EVENTS calendar page.
DECEMBER 13 – 14 Saturday & Sunday: Bangkok
5th Bangkok Criterium. 25 km Criterium race, messenger race, trick show, bike market, car show, and 250m drag thunder race. Location: Suvarnabhumi Airport bicycle track and long-term parking area, Bangkok. Time: 13:00 until 23:00. Registration: Online or At the event. Criterium can be raced in Fixed Gear, Road Bike, or Open Bike category. View event poster or visit www.bangkokcriterium.com for more information.
We have made this event our most recent TOP PICK because of the event’s longevity, fun atmosphere, and the organizer’s ability to secure corporate sponsorship without losing the focus of the event. This one is sure to draw a large crowd of road, track, and fixie enthusiasts and racers. For the first time, the event has an official website detailing rules, registration, and categories. There is even a floor plan of the venue included!
