Bangkok Bike Expo 2013. Organized by NCC Exhibition Organizers. Location: Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani, Exhibition Halls 3 & 4, Nonthaburi province. This four day event will highlight the following: promote exercise through cycling, create business opportunities for bikes, promote the sport of cycling in Thailand, create a good image of cycling in the community. Bicycle retailer and distributor booths will be on display. This expo will also feature exclusive bike parking and bike lanes inside the exhibition hall for all riders to utilize. TOT Bicycle Swap Market. Very popular market place for secondhand bike parts. This bike market takes place on Saturday at the headquarters of TOT, the state-owned telecommunication company that was once called the Telephone Organization of Thailand. The company itself does not have much to do with the event apart from providing space at its premises on Chaeng Wattana Road. But it happens that many of its staff are cyclists; and together they organize this event in order to give fellow cyclists another opportunity to trade used bicycles and parts. Location: TOT telecommunications company main office on Chaeng Wattana Road, Thung Song Hong, Lak Si, Bangkok. GPS – N 12.924590566, E 100.86503824. Show up early and shop till you drop.
5 – Sunday : Phetchabun
Spinning Through the Clouds #5. View event poster by clicking here. Location: Phu Thab Boek, Lom Kao, Phetchabun province (South of Loei province). Distance: 40 kms, out of which the first 20kms are reportedly relatively flat and the last 20km up some crazy mountain. Start: 7 am, Lom Khao in Phetchabun province. Registration: Only in advance (no registration on the day of the race). You need to transfer the registration fee into the organizer’s bank account and send them an email. Fee: 400 baht (includes registration, a t-shirt water and food). Categories: Two bike categories: Road bikes and Mountain bikes (not more than 48 teeth on big chain ring; tyres not less than 1.5 inch). Six Age categories for men: up to 18, Open, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+. Three age categories for women: Open, 30-39, 40+. 12 – Sunday : Nakhon Pathom
Nakhon Pathom Road race. Location: Kasetsart University, Kamphaeng Saen, Nakhon Pathom province. All types of bikes are welcome. Registration: 06:00 on morning of race. Start time: opening ceremony is 08:00-08:30 and race starts at 8:40. Lunch is at 12:00 and prizes will be awarded at 12:30. Categories: 7 categories (by distance, type of bike, and gender). Distance: 57km and 97km courses. Fee: 500THB entry fee, 1,000THB for VIP riders. VIP ride (10-15km) is just a cruise around the campus. Accommodation is available at student dormitory (a room can accommodate 2-4 people). Price is 100 baht per person. Free camp ground at university stadium. PATTAYA MOUNTAIN BIKE CHALLENGE 2013. Presented by Pattaya Bikes Club in cooperation with Pattaya municipality. Location: Khao Pratamnak, Amphoe Bang Lamung, Chonburi province. Bangkhae Night Criterium. Location: Kanchanaphisek Rd, Bangkhae, Bangkok (Near The Mall Bangkhae shopping centre). 3rd Visakabucha Road race. Location: Nang Nai temple, Tambon San Chao Rong Thong, Ang Thong province. Registration: 06:00 on day of race for category B and C. Hatyai MTB Jamboree 2013. Location: Hatyai municipal park, Hatyai, Songkhla province. Jamboree host hotel is the Lee Gardens Plaza Hotel Hatyai. Registration: online at http://www.thaitrackzone.com. Hua Hin Extreme. Event includes skateboard, BMX, Flatland, and Trials show. There are 4 different types of competition happening at this event: 1. Fixed gear bike race 80KM. 2. ALL geared bicycles (Road, MTB, etc.,) bike race 80km. 3. BMX STREET trick competition 4. BMX STREET high jump and long jump competition. 2013 Tour de Timor. Registration opens March 27, 2013. All participants must be in-country by Sunday 1 September at the very latest and able to fly out again on the following Sunday’s flights. Online registration is set to open on Wednesday 27 March with the special early bird rate of $900AU for the first 60 to register! For those that miss out on the special, the rate thereafter will be $1000AU. As always we will be limiting the number of international participants, this year to 285 with the remainder of participants from the local & expat communities. Inaugural 2013 Phuket ITU Long Distance Triathlon Series. The weekend starts with a Sprint triathlon (750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run), Olympic Distance triathlon (1.5km/ 40km/ 10km) and relay events on Saturday 9th November as part of the ITU Asian Cup, followed by the headline event the 2013 Phuket ITU Long Distance Triathlon Series event presented by the Absolute World Group on Sunday 10th November, which comprises a 3km swim, 80km bike and 20km run. Each event will be capped at 500 competitors for 2013 and following an early expression of interest over 300 Athletes have already registered. Location: Patong, Phuket province.
