Thais took best place amongst ASEAN riders while Australian is in yellow. Chiang Rai (1 April 2012), The Thailand national team led by Phuchong Sai-Udomsin, the number one Thai rider, began the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Cup Tour of Thailand 2012 with a tremendous task Sunday by capturing the best ASEAN award both in the Individual and Team category while Australian cyclists took 1-3 positions on the podium.
The Tour of Thailand’s first day is the prologue stage with a distance of 2.86 kms in Chiang Rai province. Phuchong crossed the finish line 34th place with 3:18.30 minutes, leading four other riders – 34th Thurakit Boonratanathanakorn 3:19.11, 54th Nawuti Liphongyu 3:20.26, 60th Okart Bualoi 3:21.20 and 87th Kritsada Changpad 3:25.73 minutes.
The leader of the individual general classification of the prologue stage was KERBY Jordan from the City of Perth with 3:05.08 minutes. Kerby grabbed the overall time and wore the Yellow Jersey and the leader of general classification by points was also KERBY with 16 points and so he also will wear the Green Jersey as points leader.
On Monday (2 April 2012) there will be the first stage of the Tour of Thailand with a distance of 162 kms traveling from Tung Park and the Commemorating Lamp in Chiang Rai to Mae Chan. Start time is at 10.00 am local.

Uzbekistan took stage 1, Thailand’s Phuchong still the best ASEAN rider. HALMURATOV Muradjan, of the Uzbekistan national team, took stage 1 in 3:29.02 hours covering the distance of 162.2 kilometers from Chiang Rai to Mae Chan Monday as Thailand’s Phuchong is still leading the best rider of ASEAN competition.
Stage 1 of “Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Cup Tour of Thailand 2012” in Chiang Rai province was a sunny and windy day. A rider from the middle Asian country Uzbekistan shrugged off the windy condition to win the stage with a time of 3:29.02 hours and became the new leader of the race with the yellow jersey.
Phuchong Sai-Udomsin, Thailand’s number one rider, is still the leader of the individual general classification by time (Best ASEAN Rider) with a time of 3:32.25 hours followed closely by RUSLIA from the Malaysian national team only .01 minute behind at the end of stage 1. In addition, Thurakit BoonratanaThanakorn, another Thai riding star, took the first intermediate sprint of stage 1 as well.
Stage 2 is 111.2 kilometers from Chiang Rai –Mae Slong- Mae Chan (almost all uphill) Stage 2 will start at 10.00 am on April 3rd at Tung Park near the Commemorating Lamp, Chiang Rai.

Australia grabbed the 2nd stage of the Tour of Thailand. The second stage of Princess maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Cup Tour of Thailand 2012 Tuesday has a new leader-Mitchell Lovelock-fay from the Australian national team after he won the hardest stage with 3:05.28 hours on the route of Chaing Rai-Doi Maeslong-Mae Chan to cover the distance of 111.2 kms. He now wears the yellow jersey.
Thurakit Boonratanathanakorn, Thai rider star from Thailand national team A, grabbed the fourth place 3:07.17 hours. Moreover, Phuchong has also become the leader of the best ASEAN rider of the stage. He wore the blue jersey for stage 2.
While Thailand national team A has still become the overall best placed team of ASEAN with an overall time of 20:06.45 hours followed by the Malaysian national team at 20:09.28 hours.
The third stage on Wednesday from Chiang Rai-Tueng-Chiang Rai with the distance of 146.10 kms. Stage 3 will start at Tung Park and Commemorating Lamp in Chiang Rai at 10.00 am local time.

The 3rd stage of Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Cup Tour of Thailand took place Wednesday, April 4th, and covered a distance of 164.10 kms. Thailand national team A consisting of Phuchong Sai-Udomsin, Okart Bualoi, Thurakit Boonratanathanakorn, Nawuti Lipongyu and kritsada Changpad became the new leader of the Team General Classification with a time of 30:02:58, overtaking the Australian national team that has a time of 30:04:16 hours.
The 3rd stage winner is CROSBY Louis from Bikenz-Pureblack of New Zealand with a time of 3:17:03 hours, followed by SEO Joon Yong of Seoul Cycling Team from Korea and HATANAKA Yusuke of Shimano Racing Team from Japan in the same time while Kritsada Changpad is the best placed Thai rider in 9th place with a time of 3:17:06 hours for the stage. Kritsada Changpad is the best ASEAN rider of the day.
The 4th Stage (5 April 2012) from Chiang Rai-Wat Rongkhun will have a distance of 136.60 kms and will start at Tung Park at 10.00 am local time.

After completion of the 4th stage, Phuchong, of the Thailand A team is still the best ASEAN rider and the Thailand national team is still the leader of the Team General Classification with a time of 38:49.09 hours followed by Terengganu Cycling Team and the Australian national team in the gap of 02:19 and 02:52 minutes respectively. The fourth stage of Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Cup Tour of Thaialnd 2012 covered a distance of 136.6 kms from Chiang Rai-Wat Rongkhun, Chiang Rai province, a beautiful northern part of the Kingdom of Thailand.
Moreover, Phuchong Sai-Udomsin, the number one rider of Thailand was also still the best ASEAN rider(Blue Jersey) leading into the last stage with 12:55:07 hours finishing only 00.05 seconds ahead of Rusu Amir Mustafa of the Malaysian national team.
The winner of the 4th Stage is MAT SENAN Mohammad Saufi of Terengganu Cycling Team with a time of 2:54.21 hours, in the same time with HALLANDS Edmund John of Eddy Hallands and HATANAKA Yusuke of the Shimano Cycling Team.
For other positions, the leader of Individual General Classification(Yellow Jersey) by time is LOVELOKE-FAY Mitchell from the Australian national team with a time of 12:53:43 hours leading HALMURATOV Muradjan from Uzbekistan national team and EDWARDS David from City of Perth by 00:17 and 00:26 seconds.
The leader of Individual General Classification by points(Green Jersey) belonged to HATANAKA Yusuke of the Shimano Cycling Team with 42 points, HATTON Peter of Plan B Racing with 34 points, and MAT SENAN Mohammad Saufi of the Terengganu Cycling Team with 31 points.
The 5th Stage (the last stage of the race for Elite Men) will be on Friday, April 6th, from Chiang Rai-Chiang Khong for a distance of 130 kms. The 5th stage race will start at 10.00 am local time at Tung Park in Chiang Rai.

Korean rider SEO Joon Yong wins fifth and final stage in the 2012 Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Cup Tour of Thailand.
Australian LOVELOCK-FAY Mitchell is in Yellow as the overall individual winner of the race with a time of 15:55:35 hours, while Thailand’s PHUCHONG Sai-Udomsin wins the Blue jersey as the best ASEAN rider with a time of 15:56:59 hours, beating out Malaysia’s RUSLI Amir Mustafa by five seconds.
The green jersey, for the best overall sprinter in the points competition, goes to HATANAKA Yusuke of Team Shimano who accumulated 42 points over the tour’s entire six days of racing.
Best Overall Team Classification goes to Team Thailand. Thailand national team A consisting of Phuchong Sai-Udomsin, Thurakit Boonratanathanakorn, Okart Bualoi, Nawuti Lipongyu, and Kritsada Changpad took the Team General Classification with a time of 47:54:45 hours. Moreover, they won the ASEAN Team Classification by beating the Malaysian national team by 05:38 minutes.
The first stage of the elite women’s race of the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Cup Tour of Thailand 2012 will start on April 8th at Tung Park near the Commemorating Lamp in Chiang Rai at 10.00 am local time.
