Khao Din Track Trail, Chonburi province – Located in Sattahip district of Chonburi, this trail has lots of climbing and technical singletrack and is hugely popular with the local MTB riders of Chonburi. GPS location: GPS – N 12 42.799, E 100 54.742 Trail condition: Shaded, technical 100% singletrack with many steep sections. Trail Distance: 3.8 kilometers. How to get there: Drive south on Highway 3 (Sukhumvit) from Pattaya. Turn left at the Tao Than intersection in Sattahip district. Drive until you reach a Coffee Shop with a huge sign that says “Chut Phak Sua”. This Coffee Shop is the meeting area of local riders and it is directly across the street from the trailhead. Food & drinks: the Coffee Shop is best option for last minute snacks and drinks before hitting the trail. The owners do not mind if riders park their car at the Coffee Shop. Accommodation: nearby Pattaya and Rayong have many choices. No options close to trailhead.
Doubletrack at Khao Kheow Open Zoo, Chonburi province – The Khao Kheow Open Zoo is a nice place for biking, and since it is a short drive away from bangkok this trip can easily be done without having to stay overnight. The roads around the Zoo are nicely paved with asphalt and there is very little traffic (except on holidays). The forested mountain area of the Zoo has a long loop trail that completely circles the Zoo. At a large Y-shaped intersection (where the Tapir exhibit is) you can ride up the mountain to the Zoo’s training center, and then further up to a Buddhist monastery. The road is paved to the training center but turns to dirt doubletrack up to the monastery. GPS location: GPS – N 13 12.535, E 101 03.243 Trail condition: In the zoo area, the roads are paved. If you ride up to the training center and the monastery, be prepare for some steep climbs. Trail Distance: Roughly 5 to 6 kilometers to do the loop trail around the Zoo. About 4 kilometers if you ride the mountain road up to the training center and monastery. How to get there: The Zoo is approximately 130 kilometers away from Bangkok. Take the eastern expressway out of Bangkok and then exit to the Chonburi bypass road. You will see signs for the Zoo on the roadside letting you know when to turn left. After the left turn there will be more signs directing you to the Zoo. Food & drinks: Several stores and restaurants inside and in front of the Zoo.
