Dear Sir or Madame;
I am coming to BKK at the end of May with bicycle. Question: Do you know if I get rid of my box at airport if I will be able to find another bicycle box in BKK? Also, is it possible to bring bicycle (in box) on those short flights like to Chiang Mai?
Thank you,
Larry P
Our response to Larry
Larry,
Thanks for your inquiry.
It will not be a problem to find another bike box at a Bangkok bike shop. Expect to be charged something for the box (300-600 Thai baht), as well as a fee for packaging your bicycle at the shop if you decide to have their staff do that for you.
It’s probably best to keep your bicycle boxed up if you intend to transfer to a domestic flight up to Chiang Mai immediately after you arrive on your international flight. Also, keep your bicycle boxed up when you arrive to the Bangkok international airport since it will make transportation in a taxi, van, or train that much easier.
As for finding a shop in Bangkok that will sell you a box and pack your bike up… there is an exhaustive list of Bangkok bike shops at this link – https://bicyclethailand.com/bicycle-shops-in-bangkok-thailand/ (Choosing a shop really depends on where in Bangkok you intend to stay)
If your intended destination is Chiang Mai then I would recommend that you visit Mong Cycles to have your bike unpacked and built. Also, Mong Cycles can repack your bike in a box for your return trip when your holiday is over. Here is their information:

I will be in Pattaya May 14/15th was hoping to do some riding.
There are a couple of companies that run tours of local attractions by bike, but I am looking for something with a bit more riding; maybe 4 hours or so; quiet roads would be good.
Preference would be Sunday morning; early as practical… avoid the worst of the heat.
I would need a bike; road or hybrid is fine. If a road bike a 58cm is probably the right size, hybrid should be a Large or XL. I have helmet/pedals/shoes.
Let me know if you have any suggestions…
Emil
Our response to Emil
Emil,
At this time there are no bicycle touring companies operating in the Pattaya City area that offer the type of riding you are looking to do. I would suggest that you make contact with the tour companies that run tours of the local attractions and make an inquiry about bicycle rental, as far as type, price and availability.
Then, once you have secured a rental bicycle make contact with either the Cuore Masters (Road bikes) or Monkey Xtreme Riders (Mountain bike & Casual rides) cycling clubs in order to join them on their next adventure. Both groups are predominantly foreign riders who know the Pattaya/Chonburi areas very well and host daily and weekly rides that are open to all.
Information from our CLUBS & LINKS page:
Cuore Masters Team Pattaya [Chonburi] (Telephone: 081-554-6426) (FaceBook: Cuore Masters Team). Group always meets at this Family Mart. Group meets for rides on FRIDAY-8am, SATURDAY-8am, and SUNDAY-9am.
Meeting Point Coordinates – GPS – N 12.894579, E 100.900728
Monkey Xtreme Bike Riders [Chonburi] (FaceBook: Monkey Xtreme Bike Riders) – Foreign and Thai riding group in the Pattaya area of Chonburi province. Weekly rides meet at Wat Suthawat.
We hope this information was helpful to you.

Hi! I just moved to Bangna and am looking forward to start cycling again after more than 8 years. Are there any casual cycling groups in Bangna area? There are lots of information in Thai which I cannot read. I just bought a MTB but intend to use it only on roads. I don’t mind easy trails at least until I get more fit and have more stamina. Looking forward to meeting more cyclists in the area.
Cheers!
Michael
