OCBC Singapore Pro Cycling Team’s Loh Sea Keong pipped in final kilometres
at Tour of Thailand
4 April 2013 – THE OCBC Singapore Pro Cycling Team’s Loh Sea Keong stayed among the leaders for much of the latter half of Stage 4 of The Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Cup Tour of Thailand on Thursday, but he was ultimately pipped to the finish line.
Loh finished in 34th place in a time of 5:05:20, 14 seconds behind stage winner Thurakit Boonratanathanakorn of Team Thailand. With about 50 kilometres to go in the 199.7-kilometre Stage 4, Loh and OCBC teammate Thomas Rabou caught up with the lead group to form a six-man breakaway. Loh then stayed among the leaders for the remainder of the stage until the final kilometres.
Loh, a 26-year-old Malaysian, remains in eighth place in the General Classification, 56 seconds behind leader Mohd Saiful Anuar Aziz of Terengganu Cycling Team. The OCBC Singapore Pro Cycling Team’s Goh Choon Huat, the lone Singaporean remaining in the field, finished in 75th place.
The cyclists next take on Stage 5, a 195-kilometre stage that begins in Ranong and ends in Khao Lak. This is the next-to-last stage of the Tour.
About OCBC Singapore Pro Cycling Team
The OCBC Singapore Pro Cycling Team was first founded in 2009 as an amateur club team with the mission to develop and promote Singapore cycling. The team has today turned into a full-fledged professional cycling team and established itself as the premier road developmental team for cycling talent in Singapore. Being the first and only professional cycling outfit out of Singapore, the team has been licensed by the Union Cycliste Internationale (“UCI”) as a UCI Continental Cycling Team since 2012. Thurakit won stage 4 Tour of Thailand – “Pom” Thurakit Boonratanathanakorn, Thai ace rider of T.Thailand team, gave a great joy to Thai people by grabbing the winner of the stage 4 of the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Cup Tour of Thailand 2013 from Chumphon to Ranong Provincial Admistration Organization on Thursday.
Thurakit, 24, Air Sergeant of Royal Air Force, won the stage with 5.05.06 hours in the distance of 199.7 kilometer. He collected the special prize money of 10,000 baht from Lt.Gen.Dr.Decha hemkasri, Secretary General of Thai Cycling Association as the stage winner as well.
The other awards of the day are: Aziz Mohd Saiful Anuar of Terengganu Cycling Team from Malaysia took the Individual General classification by Time(14.56.38 hours), he will wear the Yellow Jersey to start the fifth stage. The Green Jersey(for the rider who got General Classification by point(32 points) belongs to Mariusz Wiesiak, Matrix Powertag from Japan.
The important award for the ASEAN rider(Best ASEAN rider) is for Lusli Amir Mustafa of Malaysian national team for the fourth stage in a row with the time of 14.57.11 hours.
The fifth stage of 150 kilometers will begin at 09.00 am at Ranong Provincial Administration Organization to Phangnga province.
