TRAIL A and TRAIL B at Khao Yai Thiang, Nakhon Ratchasima province – Trail A and Trail B begin at the same spot near the square-shaped reservoir on the Khao Yai Thiang hilltop. Trail A and Trail B end at the same spot. This part of Khao Yai Thiang is not very steep. A full-suspension bike with five to six inches of travel would be best, but not completely necessary. A heavier downhill-specific bike or even a hardtail can be used on these trails. Despite all of the tricky sections, these trails are good for bikers of all skill levels. There is always an optional line for riders who are not comfortable with catching air or navigating rock gardens. Moderate slopes with natural and man-made obstacles, which range from jumps and drops of different sizes to rock gardens. Trail Distance: Trails A and B are about the same length, 3 kilometers. How to get there: Out of Bangkok, take Highway 2 past Pak Chong and watch for Lam Takhong Dam. Continue a bit further looking for EGAT Power Plant. The road leading up to Khao Yai Thiang is opposite from the main gate of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) Lam Takhong Power Plant. TRAIL C at Khao Yai Thiang, Nakhon Ratchasima province – Trail C begins further up the road from the start point of Trails A and B. Trail C ends at the same spot as Trails A and B. Same bike recommends as Trails A and B apply for Trail C. Trail C also has optional lines (chicken runs) for riders who are not comfortable with jumps and big drops. GPS location: GPS – N 14 48.552, E 101 33.714 Trail condition: Shaded, single and double tracks. Moderate slopes with natural and man-made obstacles, which range from jumps and drops of different sizes to rock gardens. Trail Distance: Trail C is slightly longer than Trails A and B, just a hair over 3 kilometers. How to get there: Out of Bangkok, take Highway 2 past Pak Chong and watch for Lam Takhong Dam. TRAIL D at Khao Yai Thiang, Nakhon Ratchasima province – Trail D (some call it DH Trail) begins near the signal transmission station of TV Channel 5. Trail D is a proper Downhill trail and as such should be done on a DH-specific bike with plenty of suspension. GPS location: GPS – N 14 47.174, E 101 32.825 Trail condition: Downhill trail that switches between single and double track. Trail D is the most challenging of the four trails at Khao Yai Thiang, with steep rocky sections, steep drops, a wooden plank bridge, high speed sections and short tough climbs that require frantic pedaling. Trail Distance: Trail D is approximately 2.7 kilometers top to bottom. How to get there: Out of Bangkok, take Highway 2 past Pak Chong and watch for Lam Takhong Dam.
