hi all

i'm looking for a hybrid or touring bike, to bike long distances, mostly on asphalt but sometimes also on gravel roads, with some luggage. what might be the best place to buy such a bike in chiang mai (am quite flexible on prices but less flexible on bike quality; the bike needs to do its thing for at least a month, riding from chiang mai to isaan and possibly back).

thank you for your tips!
tina

p.s. since i might not be returning to chiang mai rental is not an option.

Hi Tina,

There are plenty of bike shops in Chiang Mai. Check out the comprehensive list here - http://bicyclethaila...vince-thailand/

A particular Hybrid bike that I would recommend is the MARIN Larkspur CS3. Good parts spec, great tires/wheels combo, comfort saddle and suspension seatpost, and it's easy to mount a rack to this bike.

A few of the better equipped shops in Chiang Mai:

Mong Cycles (MARIN)

Jacky Bike (TREK)

Cherry Bike

Chaitawat Bike Shop

Velocity

Arm Bikes (BIANCHI)

Stu here from Mong Cycles in Chiang Mai. We rent or sell good quality Marin Larkspur CS3 bikes that are ideal for touring. Our bikes are new, fully maintained, rentals come with lock and helmet...and we all speak English and a smattering of other languages. Please contact us or stop by at 141 Chiang Moi Road, just east of the old town on the way to Warorot Market.  Cheerz, Stu and Mong
