In March of this year, I spent a Weekend at Bangkok Tree House. This is one of Bangkok’s latest eco-friendly hotels where they have pulled out all stops to be green. I think any other hotel that built in the middle of a jungle would have bulldozed the trees in order to build a paved road and a parking lot. Not so at Bangkok Tree House. The only way to reach this hotel is by boat or walking along a narrow elevated pathway. The best way to get around this area is in fact by bicycle. And that is exactly how I arrived at this hotel for my short stay. That is why I was interested to read on Twitter this morning of their plans to make the hotel also “bike friendly”. Which is a great idea.
This is what they said on the @BangkokTree Twitter account:
“So many cyclists visit @bangkoktree house, I think it’s high time we make it Thailand’s 1st #bikefriendly hotel… some ideas: 1. Special discount 4 cyclists 2. Secure in-room bike storage 3. Packed lunch available 4. Free water filling & 5. Free bike cleaning.”
This whole area in Phra Pradaeng is very popular with cyclists, both local and foreign. This has inspired me to head off there again this weekend and do some more exploring. Follow me on Twitter @RichardBarrow to see my travels.
